Introduction
This
is an argumentative essay, all the main point is about what happened in Papua. Every
Indonesian people or even citizens of the world must know where Papua is. This essay argues that what
happened in Papua is politically contrived by people
who wanted to be free of Indonesia. Thus,
based on two reason; historically and different racialy. These are why many
coutries provoke native people, as forming of separatist group in Papua (OPM). This
is said
and proven by an activist from Papua, taken from
http://politik.kompasiana.com, Yulius Miagoni said that stop lying native
people, with devoutly arguing about Papua.
Main
Body
Conflict in Papua was intentionally is politicized and
mannered
This essay argues that all about
happened in Papua, there are two big reasons why separatist
in Papua wanted to be free and one addition
reason why
conflict in Papua was intentonally mannered. First,
historically, Papua in a long time ago was not region of Indonesia. Otherwise,
Papua was a region of Majapahit (a past kingdom of Java) including East Papua
(now, Papua New Guinea), it was usually called Nusantara. Papua belonged to
Nusantara but, Nusantara was not Indonesia. However, Indonesia’s government
which leaded by Soekarno forced Netherland’s government to take over Papua to
Indonesia. Papua as a part of region of Netherland forcedly took over Papua to
Indonesia. It means that Indonesia accidentally claimed that Papua was the part
of region of Indonesia. Because of that, Indonesia was pretended imperializing
Papua with no reason.
Second, with different racialy reason, provocation and intervention were done by
many countries such as America, England, Papua New Guinea, and South Africa,
through provoking separatist to disrupt Indonesia. As Timor Leste, given
freedom because Indonesia was insisted by International Conference that
pretended Indonesia did crime against humanity in Timor Leste. Furthermore, Timor Leste did not want to sparate from Indonesia. Otherwise,
it was provoked by Australia’s government that wanted Timor Leste free of
Indonesia.
Not
many people know that separatist in Papua also have been exploiting journalist
from overseas to spread issues about what actually happened in Papua. Seeking the freedom based on
PEPERA. Many ways they did such as making conflict, terror, unclear issues, and
making divisions among tribes in Papua. This was proven by Eben Kirksey, and
said in his article that he was provoked by Tyles Waropen, a human right worker
in Papua. Waropen provoked him to write all about he saw in Papua.
After revealing two reasons above,
it can be seen that no reason for Indonesia to give freedom to Papua. In other
words, it was only provocation. Indonesia should really remain Papua because first,
Papua still needs Indonesia
second, Indonesia just needs a little time to build Papua. Besides that,
Papuans have no experiences to build their region because most of them are
Primitive (People who have never known history yet). That is why many countries
want to exploit more in Papua because the country they pretend home does not
build Papua as well.
That provocation is revealed by Marciano, as the chief
of BIN (Badan Intelejen Negara), said that all happened in Papua,
there was involvement of other countries that financed OPM to make conflicts
and issues. Indonesia’s military also claimed that there were many people who
involved in Papua. A secret document, belongs to command of special military entitled
“Anatomi Separatis Papua” (Anatomy Separatist in Papua),
uttered that there were leaders of countries support OPM, and clearly written
name by name of the leader of countries itself. They were; Dianne Feinstein:
Senator of U.S; Andrew Smith, as a member of parliament in England; Michael
Somare, ex prime ministry of Papua New Guinea; Desmond Tutu, as a antiapartheid
fighter from South Africa.[1]
This did not mention a journalist, politicians, educators, and many more that
were involved in all happened in Papua.
Indonesia itself has been collecting
data to remain Papua. OPM fought Indonesia diplomatically and even politically
in other that Papua could be free of Indonesia, became independent country and
not always to need to depend on Indonesia.
Making
dialogue with OPM is one of the ways to remain Papua. It is the same as what OPM
did, such as exploiting Journalist from overseas, secret conference, even if
they fight military they will not work. Moreover, the new finding is, OPM also
exploited native people to show evidence to the journalist that can make a real
fact to be shown the international press that Indonesia’s military has murdered
native people in Papua. This is overreacting. Indonesia should realize that one of its regions will lose. What
Indonesia should do for Papua, is to struggle diplomatically to remain Papua to
be still part of region of Indonesia. As
Indonesia did when Soekarno forced Netherland’s Goverment to take over Papua.
And the
one addition reason is about media. Cause this essay argues that about all
happened in Papua is about what role of media. How media is one the most
important roles besides diplomatic to deliver what needs to. How media spreads
news, even if about lie, media can spread as if it was the truth. It can be
seen how Indonesia worked taking over Papua from Netherland through media
itself such as News Paper ‘Soeara Asia’ and how separatist exploited
journalist, educators, lawyer, in order to insist Indonesia to make Papua free
of Indonesia.
Conclusion
So, Indonesia should remain Papua to
be still part of region of Indonesia. Before too late, Indonesia should be
brave struggling diplomatically and should show
media that Indonesia does not as what the International World pretended
in other that Indonesia never loses a region even an island. Indonesia should also realize
that probably OPM can come up again to do everything they want to for Papua to
be free. Indonesia might lose Timor Leste but, never lose Papua. Never lose
region for the second time.
