Introduction

Howard Zinn
Ideology make everyone can’t be
neutral, the way of thinking, to getting an inspiration, writing the text is
the ideology that influenced our lives. Environment, education and book can
form ideology someone. For example Howard Zinn as a gentle historian, he has
ideology which nothing hardness. There is a word expressing that history is
always written by a winner, a winner is a top kick and predominating but not
always the truth is written, said, or conducted by a winner. The truth of a
history will be influenced by writer’s ideology. Ideology is a patterned
thinking, the way of thinking, point of view that used by writer. Therefore,
ideology is having an effect to growth of history.
History is most importance as
progress and identity a nation, without history someone would be led by winners
that more proper called a sneak. Hijack the truth and ploughman of intellectual.
History would made dilated eye about truth, like Howard Zinn unmasking
intellectual prostitute of history.
Is History the truth or mistake?
The truth is Mistake itself. Mistake isn’t a wrong action but repair for the
misunderstanding of the theory. In context of Howard Zin about history, a
mistake of history not in history but in writer itself, because writer have
background which different each other and different ideology, so that Liberation
to independence of human being progressively mount.
Summarize
Histories
tell about Colombus that found America. But Howard
tell about the truth of Columbus. Before
colombus arrives in America, he assumes that island which in that footstep still
maiden, but when Columbus reach America he is greeted by American. Columbus is a criminal which detaching by
Isabella Queen because he has raped girl who 13 old. But, a Pastor who called
Peres Pastor mediate this case, imploringly to Isabella Queen for the fund of
Columbus in his cruise for the mission of Cristenisasi. Initially the target of
Columbus is finding India but his find United State (American). This Christian
mission relate to crusade that happened at 11th until 13th
centuries in Andalusia or Spanyol between Islam and Christians, this war fight
over Jerusalem or holy town, but Islam success retake Jerusalem from crucify
and succeed to dissipate Nasrani Latin from maqdis baitul.
Then after crusade happened,
Christians especially European conduct renaissance, Europe nation do cruise to
explore ocean and find new continents. With very famous mission are Gold, Glory
and Gospel, Christopher Columbus is an explorer from Genoa Italia (Spanyol), he
very famous as inventor of America continent. But, many argumentative history
about Columbus as American inventor, like Howard Zin an intellectual and
radical critic, he dare to say that Columbus is genocide, is not inventor of
America continent.
Before Christopher Columbus sail,
people of Islam have conducted exploration to ocean, like Ibnu Batutah, Ibnu
Batutah cruise the sea 125 year before Columbus come to America, Ibnu Batutah
is a explorer of Muslim which is very different from Columbus, when Columbus
cruise the sea with the aim to look for properties (Gold), searching feather in
one's cap or become power of nation to colonize of (glory), also propagate
Christian religion (Gospel). Ibnu Batutah cruise with a purpose “bertafakkur”
and grateful to God. Ibnu Batutah was born in Tangier Maroko
Howard Zin is a radical
historian, he is very smart, he is a critical person, in his book which entitle
“A Peoples History of The United State”, he tell about the truth of History
United State and the figure who critiqued by him is Christopher Columbus and he
says that Columbus is Genocide person. Book of Zinn has length trigger debate
of all historian because the book considered fantasy, nonsense and anti

Critical
Howard Zin tells eyewash about
history of America, in his book “A Peoples History of The United State” the
book many sold at the first time in publishing, this book is published four
times, and his book became best seller, Howard Zin give the radical idea and he
dare to go out from the line. So that many students make Howard Zin’s book as
reference in appreciation theirs action. Howard Zin can be conceived as a left
person because he is opposing of hegemonies in society.
But one matter which less take
a fancy to from style write Zinn. He didn’t show footnote and reference in his
article. There much hard fact which he ought to give notes where he gets the
expression on the book. Howard Zinn only tells the references in ending of his
book, he tells that any thing which is he narrate based on his experience and
from books which later then he enlist in bibliography. Maybe this is that

Actually, he is taking an
ideological choice in writing history, that he emphasizes the facts that he
like and he overcome other. Ideology of Howard Zinn in writing is a history. He
is someone who anti hardness and refuse any reason about a war. So, with his
soft ideology, he writes the history which siding people that fail in history.
But this is making the question, why Howard Zinn didn’t tell who found of
America, or explain about Cheng Ho as an explorer which has trod in America
before Columbus. He is only critical and blames Columbus without straightening
mistake of history.
Conclusion
Like
Chomsky said that Zin make student consciousness with the fact and he make
student know the truth that hide by winner. Why Howard Zinn didn’t tell about
history before Columbus, because Howard Zinn is a Christian and not confessing
history of Islam, but in the fact, Muslim has glorious since Middle
Ages. So, before Renaissance of Europe, the figure from Islam has explored the
ocean, like Ibnu Batutah and Cheng Ho. This is cause influenced from the writer.
And from Christian not confessing the history Islam, this is the weakness from
them.
